I have always been waiting to write a post on this topic - probably the stars are aligned only now :)
If you are one among the million Tamils who believe 'entirely' in what is being written in daily/weekly/monthly/yearly/peyarchi palans, this post is for you!!
I am not going to start with the standard 'there are nine planets etc', you all know that right? Let us begin by understanding that josiya palan will depend on three dimensions at ALL times:
1. Janma Jaathagam (static position of planets w.r.t Lagnam)
2. Dasaa Bhukthi (Who is the ruler now)
3. Gochaaram (kOL saaram - dynamic position of planets)
What we see in popular magazines (incl. Kumudam Jodhidam) is only a third of the analysis. It does not even have a simple majority of 50% to be entirely true.
1. Janma Jaadhagam is the position of planets at the time of one's birth. It will also show the 'Lagnam', the most critical aspect in determining a person's palans throughout the life span. All planets will be marked as relative to the lagnam (eg, Sani in 1, Guru in 2 etc). Lagnam will be marked as 1st House. Lagna/Janma Jaadhagam determines the nature of a planet w.r.t your life. If Sani is placed extremely well in lagna jaadhagam, one need not worry about 7 1/2 or ashtamam at all!! Do some homework to understand what weightage each planet carries at the time of birth and where they are positioned (which house, ucham/neecham, friends' house or enemy's house, who is seeing who? etc).
2. Dasaa Bhukthi will also be mentioned in the janma jaadhagam itself. You will have to carefully calculate how the split ruling of 120 years by these nine planets is, as of date (current running dasai atleast, if not bhukthi). This will determine who is ruling us as of date (you cannot expect yellow colour buses on roads during AIADMK's rule, right?)
3. Gochaaram - this the dynamic position of planets w.r.t the house in which Chandran was, in the janma jaadhagam - lagnam cannot be computed daily, so the next best match of Chandran is considered for ascertaining Gochaaram. This is where we determine 7 1/2, 8 Sanis, Kanni chevvais and the lot.
Next time, when you get to see a peyarchi palan, please do some homework and then proceed to read the janatha palans mentioned in the magazine.
